After completing his Doctoral Externship, Dr. John Massey joined the Silverstein Institute in 2019. He specializes in a comprehensive range of services, including diagnostic hearing tests, vestibular evaluations, electrophysiology, hearing aid assessments, and tinnitus evaluation and treatment.
During an apprenticeship at Boystown National Research Hospital, Dr. Massey received a scholarship to conduct research in psychoacoustics and speech perception. With his prior experience as a professional audio engineer and producer, he brings a distinctive expertise in acoustics and signal processing to his audiology practice.
“When I started this clinic, my goal was to integrate my sound engineering background into a fitting and programming model that goes beyond the traditional approach of reading words in a sterile medical environment. One of the clinic's strengths is the precision we achieve in fitting and programming by conducting these procedures in acoustically treated spaces.”
Dr. Massey is dedicated to leveraging his unique skills in audiology to deliver optimal outcomes for his patients. His mission is to help them hear their best and enhance their quality of life.

“Dr. Massey showed up for me on a Saturday as I was miserable with a wax blocked ear. He was excellent and relieved my blockage carefully and with concern for me throughout the procedures. He has an incredible wealth of experience including going to the Yucatán and providing care for Mayans there….some who came over 10 hours to be cared for. He is gentle and also very particular about getting all the wax out using different techniques to get it done. I was so happy with his care that my spouse and I are going to make appointments for testing our hearing. ”
